Dear STAR Net Librarian,

I’m writing to let you know about an opportunity to participate in an evaluation of NASA’s AstroPhoto Challenge—an exciting summer STEM learning experience using MicroObservatory telescopes, astro-image enhancement tools, and real NASA data.

The evaluator for NASA’s Universe of Learning is seeking group leaders interested in facilitating a NASA’s Astrophoto Challenge workshop in June or July.

NASA’s Summer 2019 Astrophoto Challenges involve the following:

  1. Participants capture their own real telescope image of the Whirlpool Galaxy (the target of the Summer Challenge) using the MicroObservatory robotic telescope network, or they can work with an archived set of real NASA space telescope data of the Whirlpool (or both!).
  1. The Challenges include instructions on how to turn those data into your own versions of the amazing imagery released by NASA.
  1. Submit your astrophoto creations to the Challenge and they may be highlighted as standout entries commented on by NASA experts.

By agreeing to facilitate a workshop along with pre and post surveys, you and your group members can participate in the evaluation any time between now and July 31st. The first 20 group leaders to enroll in the study will receive a $50 honorarium.

The study is being conducted by Goodman Research Group, Inc., an external evaluator. To request more information about the evaluation or to enroll, please click on the following link:  http://bit.ly/AstroPhotoEval

We hope you consider this opportunity!
